Description: This training provides an in-depth exploration of DeepSeek, an advanced AI-
powered tool, and compares its development, features, and functionalities with major US-

applications in translation and interpreting, security considerations, and real-world case
studies. This is a 2-hour training session.

Instructor Bio:
Lorena Pike, a state-certified (Nevada and California) court interpreter, is a former manager
of Interpreting Services at Superior Court of California and current staff Spanish interpreter.
She is also an English>Spanish translator specializing in law, accounting, finance, and
business. She has a BS in accounting and postgraduate certificates in taxes, translation,
and interpreting. She has an MA in Spanish from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas,
where she taught Spanish (2009-2013). In addition to ATA conferences, she has presented
at the conferences of the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators and
has taught professional development courses and workshops in Nevada and California
since 2013. She developed and taught the Certificate of Achievement in Translation and
Interpreting at Santa Barbara City College and is now an instructor at UCLA Extension’s
Legal Interpreting Program and UCSD Extended Studies Translation Program.
