Seasoned medical interpreter and trainer Julia Shawn Page explains the steps to become a qualified medical interpreter and provides more background on the requirements and prerequisites for the national certification process. If you have ever considered expanding your skills to include medical interpreting, this one-hour presentation is for you.
Corporate Speak 101: the Challenges of Translating Business Jargon (2 hours)
by Ben Karl, MBA, CT
Confused when your business counterpart asks you to touch base offline about the impact of their solution? Wondering why everyone seems to be stuck in their silos, talking about paradigm shifts? You’re not alone. Business jargon, and like legalese and medical-speak, can pose serious challenges for language professionals of all stripes. This two-hour presentation will take a deep dive into Corporate Speak with examples from the media, company documents, and business school case studies so speakers can get their foot in the door and start sounding like they graduated from Wharton, or at least know what the heck those MBAs are talking about!
